Circulum vitae:

Sinds 1998 verricht Simone Reinders multidisciplinair onderzoek op het gebied van brain imaging. Ze begon in het neuroimaging veld op het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen met het uitvoeren van een PET-studie bij patiënten die lijden aan DIS. Op dit onderwerp heeft ze haar doctoraal in 1999 behaald. In aanvulling hierop werkte ze aan de methodologische verfijning van de aquisitie van PET-data en de reconstucrie hiervan.

Van 2001 tot 2003 werkte Simone Reinders samen met prof. Dr. Christian Büchel in Hamburg (Duitsland) als een full-time gast promovendus aan een fMRI onderzoek naar de perceptie van angst bij gezonde proefpersonen. Ze keerde terug naar Groningen om haar PhD af te ronden en promoveerde cum laude. Ze bleef werken als een post-doctoraal onderzoeker op verschillende neuroimaging projecten in het Universitair Medisch Centrum in Groningen tot ze verhuisde naar Londen in het begin van 2007.

Bij het Instituut voor Psychiatrie (IOP), King's College in Londen, heeft Simone Reinders een aanstelling als docent en is ze werkzaam al image-analist op de afdeling van Psychological Medicine onder toezicht van Dr. Paola Dazzan en Prof. Gareth Barker. In deze rol is zij direct verantwoordelijk voor de coördinatie van de data-analyses van structurele en functionele gegevens in diverse projecten uitgevoerd binnen deze afdeling. Verder geeft ze les (zowel individueel als in groepen) in fMRI design-efficiëntie en nieuwe neuro-imaging (data-acquisitie en analyses) methoden aan studenten, promovendi en andere medewerkers binnen de afdeling van Psychological Medicine.

In de loop der jaren heeft Simone Reinders een specifieke interesse naar methodologische aspecten van neuroimaging in parallel met een fascinatie voor dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis gekregen. Voor dit laatste onderwerp ontving zij een VENI-subsidie, de meest prestigieuze subsidie voor jonge onderzoekers in Nederland. Deze subsidie van het NWO (Nederland Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) maakte het mogelijk om haar eigen onderzoekslijn te ontwikkelen voor de voortzetting van haar neuroimaging-onderzoek bij patiënten met een dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis. De subsidie ondersteunt het onderzoek "Het bewust zijn van de zelf? Functionele neuroimaging van zelfbewustzijn in dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis", dat plaatsvindt in Nederland. Echter, het betreft een internationaal multi-center project vanuit het IOP in Londen, samen met BCN-NiC van het Universitair Medisch Centrum, Groningen (UMCG) en het Amsterdams Medisch Centrum (AMC) vanuit Nederland.

Verkregen subsidies en awards:
1) A.A.T.S. Reinders werd bekroond met een VENI-subsidie in 2007 (nr. 451-07-009) voor jonge excellente onderzoekers vanuit de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (www.nwo.nl).
2) 2) A.A.T.S. Reinders werd bekroond met de David Caul Award in 2006 vanuit de Internationale Vereniging voor de Studie van trauma en dissociatie (http://www.isst-d.org/about/awards.htm). De David Caul Memorial Award werd uitgereikt voor de beste paper op het gebied van dissociatie.
